Now Accepting Applications for the
Louisiana Film Crew Training Program
The NOVAC Louisiana Film Crew Training Program (LFCTP) provides intensive job training and job placement services, free of charge, for people who want entry-level work in the thriving local Film and Television Production industry. There are four main training tracks to choose from: a four-week Grip and Electric workshop taught by working professional grips and electricians, a more generalized two-week Production Assistant/Generalist curriculum taught by NOVAC and local professionals, a four-week Set Construction class, and a four-week Set and Scenic Painting class. Applicants will need to decide ahead of time which training program they want to pursue and specify it in their application. Participants may only train in one LFCTP track. Please refer to our FAQ to determine which training track is appropriate for you.
All training modules include a mandatory A.C.T. Work Keys Testing and Certification component, which is also offered free of charge. After students earn passing scores on the Work Keys tests and pass the film crew training program they will be provided help in finding paid work in the Film and Television Production Industry. All training and services related to the LFCTP will be offered at locations within and right around the City of New Orleans.
Anyone, 18 years or older, who is a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident, with a valid photo ID, is eligible to participate in the Louisiana Film Crew Training Program, although space is limited and students will be selected to participate through an application process. No prior experience is required and participants will be selected on the basis of several disparate factors such as demonstrated willingness to work, availability, geographic location (both before Hurricanes Katrina or Rita, or after), household income, etc. Entry-level work in the industry can be grueling, with long hours, so we are encouraging only the most motivated people to apply.
